The Last Rays

The Last Rays

Just like those last rays of the sun feel so good at the beach, giant tadpoles (look closely) hang in the narrow slice of the pond where the last rays of sun filter through the trees. The tadpoles will grow into American Bullfrogs, and can reach six inches in length. Though they are amazing, the introduction of the American Bullfrog has contributed to the decline of many native frogs, turtles and other species. Rana catesbeiana

  • Engaging photo – very nice and wonderful... Those bullfrogs must be sturdy, because we're having trouble with our native frogs in the Sierra – air pollution is killing them off – they are sort of like a miner's Canary...

  • Wow. I can see them tadpoles. Cool. Frogs legs in the making! Yum. (ducking and covering) Seriously, I agree with the above. Dreamlike and engaging.

  • This picture has a real Monet feeling--no horizon, blurred water, some focused elements. The ripples on the water reflecting green overhanging trees give it that "Waterlilies" quality.
